Design Principles
Every organization has a unique set of needs and goals. The ability to communicate these needs and goals through a set of principles will allow you to shape the way your organization talks about its product.
Defining Design Principles
Design principles combine organizational goals with user needs, creating the core values that aid us in making crucial design decisions. Effective design principles will align designers and build cohesiveness within your product and across teams. Additionally, design principles provide an anchor for teams to rally around. When a new member joins, your principles should be the guiding light that acquaints them with the core goals of your organization.
Successful design principles consist of phrases that provide valuable insight into both what the team is striving to accomplish and why. This means that concise, yet descriptive, principles are often more effective than single words. For example:
Minimal and efficient

Bring a sharp focus by helping customers know what matters now Minimalism and efficiency are common traits to strive for in user experience. This often means that those words lose their power when used as principles. While it can be useful to write down keywords such as these to establish high-level goals, be sure to drill down further and determine what they mean for your organization.
